Dr. John Meindl is the founder and CEO of SPORTSBRANDEDMEDIA, INC.  With expertise across sports disciplines and media platforms, Dr. Meindl is a visionary and industry pioneer, creating ideas and solutions to meet the challenges of today’s changing sports landscape.  As a Sports Marketing Consultant, Dr. Meindl has worked with countless sports properties and brands, from start-ups to Formula 1 race teams, providing strategic and tactical expertise for those seeking to connect with the sports consumer.

With deep ties in both sports and entertainment, Dr. Meindl brings a unique perspective and sports business acumen to both industries. John and his company have provided sports solutions and produced over 30 major motion pictures and television shows, including Failure to Launch, Glee, The Express, The Perfect Game, Crash, and more. The Pottsville Maroons are currently in development. Dr. Meindl is a co-producer with Rowan Joseph and the late Penny Marshall. The Pottsville Maroons is based on the true story of the early days of the National Football League (NFL) and a coal miner who carried his small town's team to the 1925 Championship only to have it forfeited. The History Channel called it the greatest scandal in the NFL’s 100 yr history.

With over 30 years in the sports business, John he is a published writer and speaker.   A thought leader, with a knack for telling it straight, John is often called upon to provide expert commentary.  He is also a frequent guest speaker at sports and entertainment conferences.  Most recently, John was part of Dean’s Distinguished Speaker Series at Quinnipiac University and addressed The Caucus of Producers, Writers & Directors in Los Angeles, where he spoke about “Turning Ideas into Opportunities.”  

A former soccer goalkeeper and college head coach, Dr. Meindl has been a strong advocate for inner-city and under-served youth…. “Using sport as a vehicle to include the excluded.”   He was a member of the board of directors of Street Soccer USA - NYC.  He was the youngest board member appointed to the Nassau County Sports Commission. He has also served on the Business Advisory Board, LIU-Southampton College, the Board of Directors for the YMCA of Greenpoint, NY, and the School for Language & Communication Development. 

John is a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.); he holds a master’s degree in sport management from Adelphi University and a bachelor’s degree in politics from The Catholic University of America. Dr. Meindl is a Professor in Sports Management at Farmingdale State College and an Adjunct Professor in Sports Marketing at Hofstra University.
